Tiwi Islands Adventures is the new operating name for Melville Island Lodge, the Johnson River Camp, and our exciting new sport-fishing destination; Bathurst Island Lodge, which opened for business in March 2013.
Tiwi Islands Adventures is located on the Tiwi Islands, a scenic 30 minute flight from Darwin, in the Northern Territory of Australia. We have exclusively operated here since 1998 and cater for anglers of ALL skill levels, plus small corporate groups, seeking a remote, yet comfortable, professionally guided sport-fishing experience.
We provide our guests with a high-quality catch & release fishing adventure situated in a spectacular and pristine wilderness environment. Dominant fish species include barramundi, mangrove jacks, threadfin salmon, saratoga, golden snapper, black jewfish, queenfish, giant trevally, spanish mackerel plus 40 or more other species of quality river, creek and reef fish.
All-inclusive packages range from short-stay trips and company incentives, through to extended fishing safaris that provide exclusive access to a multitude of major river systems, coastal creeks, bays, inlets and reef fishing destinations. We support this with a superior level of service, guest facilities, meal quality and accommodation comforts seldom associated with remote sport-fishing destinations.
We operate from three exclusive locations on the Tiwi Islands; Our Melville Island Lodge headquarters situated on the shores of Snake Bay (max 18 guests), plus our ultra-remote Johnson River Camp (max 6 guests) situated in the picturesque upper reaches of the Johnson River on the east coast of Melville Island. A third location; Bathurst Island Lodge (max 12 guests) is located on the remote south western coast of Bathurst Island. The Lodge, which is extremely isolated, is situated on the iconic ‘Barra Base’ site, which was Australia’s first ever guided barramundi sport-fishing lodge.
